extended bio:

Known on the battlefield for his uncanny ability to survive, Eleanor's father Eljm was a famous mortal army general whose experience, wits, and daring left him more glory than most could ever dream of. Though he did not fear being slain, what he did fear was his family name being lost to the ages once he passed. Playing on this insecurity of his, the goddess Cuvansi, who had long admired Eljm's exploits from far, convinced him to father a child for her. However, Eljm, knowing that deities wanted children for their own needs as well, only agreed to this if he would be able to raise the child as he saw fit, up until his own death. His successor would be trained in his image, not that of the contriving powers beyond his comprehension.

Disappointment struck when the child, soon born healthy and hale, turned out to be a girl instead of the boy he had wanted. In his eyes, women were not meant to be trained in the art of war or combat. Their bodies were more fragile, their minds more ruled by emotion, and those he had seen on the battlefield were unremarkable in every way. Reluctantly, he kept the child and married a mortal several years later, this time producing the son he sought.

Eleanor grew up in a countryside villa where Eljm had retired to, alongside her stepmother Kiara and her stepbrother Janoro. From an early age, she was fascinated with her father's military exploits and desired to become just like him, but to her dismay, Eljm only ever seemed willing to tutor her stepbrother. Eleanor, who also began exhibiting magical talent from an unnaturally young age, was instead relegated to weaving and cooking lessons with Kiara. Though she succeeded at everything she did, Eleanor felt a sense of sadness deep within, wishing life could be different.

When she became of age, Eljm became determined to marry off Eleanor, and soon found a suitor he personally approved of. Eleanor had never met the man, but as she had done for all these years, she bit her tongue and agreed to do what her father wanted of her. Yet on the day of the wedding, while she was at the altar, Cuvansi herself would interrupt the proceedings. She made a spectacle of the whole event as a blow to Eljm's pride, revealing that Eleanor was a nevtnaed, a child born with the ability to equally harness both Vesper and Lumen techniques. The nevtnaedr were viewed as outcasts by society due to their unnaturalness and destructive potential, seen as no better than beasts. The wedding was promptly called off, leaving Eljm furious at Cuvansi's interference. Cuvansi, who had wished to spite Eljm for having had the gall to bargain with her, a goddess, when they conceived the child initially, was more than content to humiliate him in front of his peers. But alongside that, just as she had intended, Eljm no longer wanted anything to do with Eleanor. Storming off, he left his daughter with her mother, never wanting to see either of them again.

Cuvansi brought Eleanor to Rehjolvnatys afterwards, and there, Eleanor's enormous magical potential quickly became apparent. But just as quickly, she became shunned as well for being a nevtnaed. Seeing that Eleanor could not reach her full potential there, Cuvansi took Eleanor to Dutpolre, a hidden island where an organisation called En Natis Ostun resided. They ran an academy of sorcery meant to train nevtnaed to control and conceal their powers. They would not force Eleanor to renounce her destructive potential, but rather, how to not frighten those who were ignorant of its equal capability for good. During her time at the academy, she made a variety of friends and allies, most notably a senior classmate named Solstice Zeragath. Solstice was a cheerful individual and quickly took Eleanor under her wing soon after her enrollment. With her guidance, Eleanor would flourish in her studies.

Upon her return to Rehjolvnatys twenty years later, Eleanor was a stranger to everyone there. The strong, confident, and well put together woman who joined the Royal Guard seemed to have appeared overnight. Even though there were whispers of her mysterious arrival, her skills silenced those rumours soon enough. With what she learned at En Natis Ostun, she quickly climbed the ranks of the Lumen army, triumphing over her competition with ease. Now as a rising star, she took it upon herself to visit Eljm once more, hoping to prove her worth and show that she had become someone he could be proud of. She didn't want her father to hate her anymore. Upon return to her childhood home, though, she found her father, now a dying old man, unwilling to see to her. She learned that her stepbrother Janoro had died in battle seven years ago, and that ever since, her father had been drowned in inconsolable grief. Unable to speak with Eljm, who passed away later that month, Eleanor felt the lingering regrets of her childhood sneaking back, but promptly pushed it down by throwing herself into more work than ever. Within the next decades, she became appointed as the Vice Commander for the Lumen army, reaching heights she never would've dreamed of before. Though the ghosts of what could've been still plague her, Eleanor continues to strive to be the best she can be, hoping to one day overcome what she once was and become what she was always meant to be.
